“Justifies My Decision” – Villa Academy Graduate Has No Regrets About Summer Switch

|

Young Aston Villa Academy graduate, Matija Sarkic, earned himself a loan move this summer up north to Scottish Premiership side Livingston, and although it took the 22-year-old goalkeeper a while to get going, it’s turning into a good year for him.

Having featured for Livi originally in the Scottish League Cup clashes only, he had the perfect start to league life as he kept a clean sheet as they took victory over reigning Champions Celtic, and well, he hasn’t really looked back, now boasting nine appearances under his belt and firmly establishing himself in their first team squad.

With his first SPL clean sheet under his belt, he certainly came in for good praise on the back of the Celtic clash, and he continues to impress, as last week he found himself called into the Montenegro senior squad for their upcoming international clashes as third choice stopper and whilst you wouldn’t expect him to get game time just yet, it would be fantastic to see him in their squad for the upcoming England clash in mid-month.

Speaking to the Daily Record (p 58 – 2/11) via Not The Old Firm, Sarkic felt it was the perfect reward for his recent development, and the decision to head out on loan in the first place.

“The call-up justifies my decision to come up here. As soon as I got the call to come to Livingston I felt it was a good opportunity.”
